Statement from Greg Myers, Millbury Public Schools superintendent

We are all deeply saddened by Tom’s passing. He was a colleague and a friend, and he will be sorely missed.

Tom was a devoted Woolie, always on the sidelines at games, cheering for kids and announcing at football and basketball games. He absolutely loved his job and was dedicated to his students. He was especially devoted to helping our young writers and public speakers find their voices, express their ideas, and champion a cause.

I’ve seen the impact Tom has had on his students, always encouraging freethinking and creativity. More than once he told me, “The little things add up.”

He knew that just one interaction, one conversation, or one incident could make such a positive difference, and ultimately change a life. He loved being that positive difference in his students’ lives and he loved doing it in Millbury for the past 12 years.

Tom left us too soon, and his students and colleagues miss him dearly.

We will all keep his family in our thoughts and prayers.

Greg Myers
