Kudos to nice people doing wonderful things

By Judy O’Connor

I would like to thank our Christmas volunteers who delivered meals to the homebound on Christmas day. They were Bob and Dot Hines, Paul and Rosemarie Bednar and Bob Parker, who all gave their time on the holiday.

It is truly heartwarming to know that we have such wonderful caring individuals in our community.

Bravo … you truly made over 45 people very happy with a good meal and a big holiday greeting.

Storm closings

We will put our cancellation notice on WTAG and WSRS. If we are not going to provide our transportation services they will also be on those stations. We will transport if the main streets are clear. If the WRTA announces storm routes only we can only go on main roads. We will only transport if it’s safe to drive. If you have a question regarding this, call the office. The Senior Center is a town building and will remain open unless otherwise directed by the town manager.

Winter schedule changes

We will be closed on Wednesday evenings during the months of January and February. We will resume on March 1 with social Bingo at 6 p.m. All our regular daily activities do not change.

Stay healthy

We offer our blood pressure clinics every Tuesday from 9-10 a.m. You should have your blood pressure checked regularly. It’s a good way to prevent a stroke and to stay well. You can also check your weight and height.

Whist players sought

We play Whist on Thursdays at 12:45 p.m., and we have several new individuals who are interested in playing. We would like our former players to come back. Edna is back to coordinate.

Atlantic City, here we come!

Our Atlantic City trip is planned for March 19-21. We will stay at the Resorts Casino. Pick up a flyer and sign up at the Center.

Bring your ideas to the table

Do you have a favorite meal? Have a question about the nutritional content of a meal? Are you interested in having us serve something different? We want to hear from you. Stop by and see Mary. She is here Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can also sign up for the noon lunch ... just call 48 hours in advance. Monthly menus are available.
